Alkionides islands, also called “Kalanisa”, is a complex of 4 islands located in the northeastern part of the Corinthian Gulf.
These 4 islands are of immense natural beauty with virgin landscapes and only a few modern constructions upon them.
Alkionides in Greek mythology was the name of the daughters of the mythical giant Alkyon.
The names of the four islands are Zoodochos Pigi, Daskaleio, Glaronisi and Prasonisi and they are all actually mountain peaks of a single reef which lays in depth of 190 meters below the surface.
The peaks have surfaced sometime in the prehistoric era due to earthquakes that had occur.
